GETTING HERE

However you get to Perisher Valley, wherever you are coming from, here is information (below) to help you on your way.

Most important, once you arrive in Perisher look for the boulder monument with signage pointing to the Perisher Cross Country Centre  - opposite the National Parks and Wildlife Centre in Perisher Valley and between the Perisher Valley Fire Station (top photo) and the Man From Snowy River Hotel (bottom photo).

From the boulder monument, you only need to walk or ski 275 m south and you will find yourself in the heart of Perisher Cross Country Skiing.

DRIVE

Perisher XC ski trails are approximately a 6 hour drive south from Sydney and under 2.5 hours from Canberra.  After Cooma take the Snowy Mountains Highway to Jindabyne. Many skiers stay here below the snowline beside Lake Jindabyne and drive the 30km up to the PXC trails each day. From Jindabyne take the Kosciuszko Road to Perisher (avoiding the Thredbo turnoff).

There is a day or annual pass payable at the National Parks Gates at Sawpit Creek. To find out more about all Parks entry pass fees, click here.

Always check road conditions by listening to the local radio stations or calling the RMS on 132 701 or going to the following link.

NOTE:  Chains are required for all non-4WD vehicles within Kosciuszko National Park. Chains must be carried at all times but should only be fitted when advised. Chains are available from most petrol stations and snowsports equipment retailers in the Snowy Mountains area.

SKITUBE

If you want to avoid driving in the snow and fitting chains, the Skitube, 20km from Jindabyne is a good option. From Jindabyne take the Thredbo Road, and turn right at the SkiTube turnoff.

FLY

COACH

Greyhound Coaches, and Sno Express offer travel between Sydney/Canberra right to Perisher.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The Snowy Mountains Bus Service will run from Jindabyne to Perisher or Thredbo and return every day during the ski season, from 7 June to 5 October 2025.Book Here
